This article is opinion only and I apologize for the lack of self-written summary or production notes. I will include links to each.
This is probably the first time since I was a teenager watching Doctor Who on PBS that I've seen The Sensorites. All I could remember from then was the costuming and make-up for the Sensorites themselves. I personally think this story is sometimes unfairly maligned. In all fairness, it is six 25 minute episodes which makes for two and a half hours on DVD. There are places when it feels like 2 1/2 hours. Don't let the length of viewing or the slow feel of the story deter you from watching. The Sensorites is thought-provoking television. It brilliantly does something that modern television doesn't always do: story-tell and character-build. There is a moral to the story that is to do with trust and the breaking of that trust by using the power of office for personal gain in the name of the good of the people. It's actually very good television.
