Kickstarter-funded "The Face of Booze" rolls in IKOC Parade

A few weeks ago, in the height of Mardi Gras season, the Krewe du Who rolled with the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus parade through the Marigny. Making his first-ever public appearance was "The Face of Booze", a Kickstarter-funded contraption initiated by a team of Krewe members last summer. The response from the awaiting parade-goers was clear: The Face of Booze is awesome! Walking alongside the 6-foot-tall contraption, we were inundated with gasps and squees from Whovians who came out to enjoy the parade and celebrate nerdy fandoms.

The Face of Booze was designed by a small team of Krewe members, crowdfunded, and built over the course of about 8 months, with the bulk of the building taking place in January and February. The base of the contraption is a modified power chair, and the contraption boasts a battery life of up to 6 hours! The contraption is a nearly full-sized replica of the Face of Boe from Doctor Who, outfitted with a speaker system, compartments for accessories such as a first aid kit, 4 pony kegs which can carry up to XX gallons of your favorite cocktail (or mocktail), and of course a giant pair of shutter shades. The Face of Booze likes to party. Soon he will join the ranks of our portable TARDIS, moveable Dalek, and working K-9 at upcoming Krewe du Who events, including TimeFest in Kenner on June 7th, 2014.
