2012 was an exciting year for Krewe du Who. After many fun and successful con appearances, Tim San Fillippo, KdW Marketing Coordinator, and Brian Held Jr., a costuming enthusiast, began discussing plans to create a run of Doctor Who trading cards featuring Krewe members in costume that could be used as a fun promotional item for cons, KdW events, and the annual Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus Mardi Gras Parade. A total of 14 cards were designed and have been a hit with both run participants and the Whovian community.  All 14 cards are presently in circulation and are given freely to all - especially at con appearances and Crown and Anchor episode viewings.

Capitalizing on the fun and success of Series One, KdW and San Fillippo have announced that a second series will be produced. Open to all KdW members with an excellent Doctor Who costume, the run size is expected to double. $55 will get each participant 500 singles and several complete sets (the number sets has yet to be determined as the number of participants is unknown at this time). Shipping finished cards to members will be extra. As before, there will be a check list and a framed master set for the Krewe to display at cons.

While preliminary design work has begun on the design of the card template (and can be seen on the left), orders will not be taken until the early fall, giving KdW members ample time to perfect their costumes. As a service to members, two Nola area photo shoots will be planned, one on the Southshore and another on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain.

Participants wishing to submit their own pictures will be allowed to do so provided that the images are  taken in the portrait position and submitted as RAW image files. Backgrounds must be free of people as well as logos. The overall compositions are up to the photographers and his or her subject(s), but the best cards tend to be those with dynamic images and/or capture cosplayers reenacting known publicity shots.  Lastly, the images should be taken fairly wide with the expectation that they will be cropped to fit the template's gold frame.

This is expected to be a fun event for all. For ongoing developments and to register your participation please visit the official event page on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/364031230372485/

I can't wait for this! Last year's photo shoot was great fun, and seeing how enthusiastically the cards from the first run have been received, I wouldn't miss this second one!
