Number 90 in the Doctor Who Library. This adventure features the 2nd Doctor, Ben and Polly, and introduces Jamie McCrimmon.
This was a fun adventure that never had a dull moment. From the moment the TARDIS lands in the Scottish moorland to the moment our intrepid travelers leave with a new crew member, this adventures rolls right along at a steady, if maybe a little slow pace. The slow pace is fine for this adventure, though, given it's a quasi-historical. Gerry Davis writes in a clear, consistent voice and brings the reader into the adventure. The reader is given a chance to get to know the secondary characters. I think Algernon Ffinch is one of my favorite secondary characters in Doctor Who canon. Polly and Ben are both given opportunities to really shine. The Doctor is nothing short of brilliant. I only wish this was one we could see but sadly it's among those adventures that are lost.
